As a classical singer, I come from a classically trained (Bel Canto) background and most of my specific knowledge revolves around classical music, especially regarding Baroque and Renaissance performance practice. That said, while my experience and training is quite specialized, my teaching is aimed not at fitting a pre-existing mold or method, but at uncovering your natural voice and training it to become a versatile and reliable instrument. In this way, the classical focus on breath, alignment, and identification and removal of unconscious tensions becomes a solid foundation for any style of singing.
I believe we each have a unique instrument – as poet Mary Oliver says “as common as a field daisy, and as singular.”
My voice lessons are aimed at becoming familiar with your unique instrument, exploring all of its potential sounds, and connecting the voice to the body and breath so that the student achieves a free and easy mastery of their unique sound.
